Disappointing! The soup and salad bar was good. However, our main course was mediocre. I ordered the prime rib and my husband ordered the filet. Both ordered cooked medium rare. The prime rib and filet were bland and dry. How does one get a filet wrapped in bacon to come out bland and dry?? My twice cooked potato tasted like it had been cooked the night before and put in the refrigerator. It was cold and I could tell the potato has been wrapped in satan wrap. The baked sweet potato was tasty though Now for dessert - ordered the peach cobbler. Tasted like a supermarket frozen cobbler that had been baked - not fresh. My husband loves cobbler but didn't like this one. We didn't finish it. Hate to spend money on a bad meal.

Had lunch here. Burgers are a great value and cooked perfectly. Well worth the drive to desert hills.

Very good place....went with 4 other people and everyone seemed to like their food. Big portions, good salad bar with fresh ingredients and service was great!

Went here for lunch, cool place... legit western memerobilia not just a bunch of wagon wheels. Had the Ruben, was good, a little heavy on the sauerkraut, but better than not enough. Will be back.

Decent steak. Loved the atmosphere and salad bar. The twice baked potato was not as good as it sounded. Next time I go I will get the baked. The hubster got mashed potatoes and the gravy was pretty darn good. The desserts are sooooo good. We ordered one of each for our party of 14. Love, love, love the turtle cheesecake. The carrot cake was a little slice of heaven. The chocolate cake was on point. And then... The cobblers, served aka mode there is cherry, blueberry, Apple and peach. All so tasty and perfectly prepared. I would definitely go back.

I gave this place another try. It's really a neat place when you walk in. It's charming, really charming. Unfortunately the food leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered the shrimp scampi a 20 dollar dish. It came out cold. My niece ordered the children's chicken. It was not even cooked! I asked the waitress to send out food back to the kitchen. The waitress stated she would be back and get the owner. The owner came to our table walking over so nonchalant. He told us the food was cooked, we said no it wasn't. So he took the food back to the kitchen. 15 minutes later the chicken came back cooked and the shrimp were hot however they added cheese to the shrimp and it came out all like a glistening mess of gelatinous glob. The butter had a yuck texture. When the check came we asked to speak to the owner so he could knock some money off the check. He didn't bother coming over. He took 5 bucks off so he didn't have to deal with us. If I owed a restaurant and there was an issue like this,I would make it right no matter what. This owner doesn't care. I will never be back.

The filet melts in your mouth and the prime rib is tasty. Good service, but not a fan of the entertainment.

Horrible customer service! About once a year I try again...hoping the service has improved and am disappointed with each try!

One of our favorite places to eat near Havasu. If you order the chicken fried steak, bring a doggie bag or your appetite. Portions are huge & a great salad bar. Definitely a must if you like steak & taters!

Beer was great. Filet was cooked perfect. Salad bar was dialed in, chili was my favorite. John our server was on his game with the 10 of us and the decor of this place is pretty rad. A few of us decided to end the night by riding the mechanical bull. I read some of the other negative reviews and we chanced it and our experience was good. Thanks to Big Al for chatting with us and recommending this place! Mahalos for that!

If your into brown leaf salads, soup that look like mushy dog food, spider webs in the corners of the booths, greasy grimy decorations and there famous jerky baby back ribs then this is the place for you. Enjoy this over priced restaurant.

The service is suck. We, four of us sit for long time, no service , ate whole can of peanuts, finally , the waitress came took order, soup and salad bar is ok. Our friend and I ordered prime ribs, I got medium rare, my friend got rare, both are cold, not even warm at all. The owner came apologize and offer a piece of carrot cake. We don't think will come back any soon.

I had pasta and a picked over salad bar with many items missing. I figured well when the pasta comes it won't matter that the salad bar was pretty sub par but the pasta came and was room temp. I walked back and found the waitress who offered to microwave it for me. :-) She did and it came back exactly the same. After not eating it the waitress asked if I enjoyed it. Don't expect crushed red peppers because even though they offer several pasta dishes they don't have them. Lesson learned I won't be back.

We really really wanted this place to be good, but it just wasn't. The salad bar was the best part, but honestly Golden Corrals is better and that's saying something. I got the fancy mac and cheese that sounded too die for but LITERALLY had no flavor whatsoever. I mean none. I ate about 4 bites after salt and pepper. You could say, "we'll its a bbq joint, what do you expect?" but my husband had the ribs and chicken and they tasted microwaved. The bbq sauce was the only good part. I got a Margarita and drank 1/4 of it because it tasted like dirty lemon water. Let me just say my husband and I are NOT picky eaters and it doesn't take much to please us, but this was probably the worst restaurant I've ever had. Too bad :-(

Excellent salad and soup bar, wonderful atmosphere, and friendly service. This was our first visit but will not be our last.

Menu lacks variety. Atmosphere was nice and service ok. This place has not changed anything in twenty years!

  • Shawna D.

My husband and I had the ribeye and the filet. Ribeye was pretty decent. The filet had no flavor at all. The baked potato was good but you have to go to the salad bar to get toppings. The twicebaked potato tasted like it came out of a box. Won't be back. For the price. $72, although that included a dessert to go it wasn't worth it.

Prime rib was yesterday's leftovers tough and no taste haven't been here in years now I know why.....service was awesome. ........

    (1)
  • Neal K.

Just plain awful. Prime rib was tough as shoe leather, dry and tasteless. Probably cooked a few days earlier in the week. Others in our party send back steaks that were also dry and tough. The au jus was made from a package, salty and fake tasting. Side dishes were cold and poorly prepared. Salad bar was from the 80s. Service was just okay. Will never go there again.

  • Sharee A.

Good is amazing! Love the decor. The filet melted in your mouth! The menu is a good selection but can be pricey. Most try in Havasu! Great local place!

  • Tessa M.

The steak was amazing and the decor was cool! You leave feeling full. The full salad bar is a good touch. Our server wasn't that great and the bathroom was filthy. They lost a star because of the service. We got our table and our server took forever to show up. We asked for water and it came out with dinner. Who does that? I would come back the next time I am here so I guess serivce doesn't matter much. LoL

As a local we do run out of restaurants to frequent so we try to mix it up from time and the other day I saw the golden Horseshoe trailer around town and said......we haven't been there for a while let's drive out and try it again. Well unfortunately NOTHING HAS !!!! this place is stuck in the 80's. When was the last time you saw a salad bar other than some old people restaurants. The "charm" of this place (if you can call it that) is peanuts in the shell and you just sweep the shells on the floor....quaint. The food is well........................not expensive and served hot, and that's all I got to say about that :)

    (3)
  • David B.

Went to this restaurant 3 times. Never again. Prime Rib was yesterday's leftovers. Tough, overdone and tasteless. Next time I ordered a hamburger medium. Got way overdone tasteless and tough. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. Many good places in town so you don't have to waste your money here.

This place doesn't deserve one star. Sat for 14 minutes and no one acknowledged us. Left to eat somewhere else. Another couple left too. Heard it has great food but now we will never know.

  • Jeff A.

Middle range Restraunt. Service is always a bit slow and the food is mid grade at best. You can have a decent meal but there are better options in town.

    (3)
  • Sharon Z.

Service is nice, food isn't. Tried it three times and just don't like the food. Meat was over cooked, soup was salty, salad bar was blah. Carrot cake was delicious though. Maybe just go for dessert...

Wanted to try something different in Havasu - this place fit the bill. Great salad bar and great steaks. Wife got the filet - very tender. Large portions, great service, in a relaxed atmosphere.

Any place I can throw peanut shells on the floor and drink Moose Drool beer is my kinda place! We sat in the bar for beer and an appetizer but had so much fun, we just stayed right where we were for dinner. The bar stools are tractor seats and a couple are horse saddles. Makes you instantly feel "cowboy." ;) We chose the Moose Drool beer on tap from Montana. It seemed the natural cowboy thing to do y'all. It was dark like a Newcastle but much smoother - like a dark ale. Yummy! The spinach & artichoke dip didn't disappoint and was the largest portion I've ever seen. Sourdough bread slices crisped with parmesan cheese were served on the side. Honestly folks, this was the best spinach & artichoke dip I've ever had. (I'm bummed because it's not exactly in close proximity and I'm craving another helpin' already.) They had a lot of options for vegetarians and fish lovers, as well as steaks and ribs. I went with the salad bar and a loaded baked potato. Honey opted for ribs that kept him "MMmmmmMMmmmm"ing all through dinner. The service was fantastic. Our bartender was there when we needed him and also gave us space. We had forgotten that Arizona doesn't change their clocks for daylight savings so our timing was off for Monday night football, but the huge flat screen TV was great for enjoying the pre-game banter. We even took campy tourist pic's by the memorabilia in the parking lot. Good times!

People really seem to like this place so I keep trying it hoping it will get better. NOT. Just did my third visit and brought my parents along. Everyone agreed the soup and salad bar was good. Nothing spectacular, but I guess for Havasu it's the only one in town so that makes is better than it is. Basically, Marie Callenders' salad bar has more to choose from. Peanuts to eat and throw on the floor.... always a plus! The food is expensive and just nothing special. This time I tired the Lemon Pepper Chicken for something different with a twice baked potato. The chicken had a sour taste to it. Not good at all. The twice baked potato was completely tasteless. How do you ruin a potato??!! No one in our party of 5 thought the place was that great. I wish I would have taken them somewhere else. Only come here for the steaks.... period. and even then you can probably find a better steak elsewhere in town for less money.

  • Charlie K.

This must be my favorite in LHC. I love the salad bar, and have worked my way through much of the menu over the visits. The portions are oversized, so we usually take half our meals home. Try it - I'm sure you will like it. They have a full bar and live country music a few evenings a week.

Off the beaten bath, but defiantly worth the effort to find. A local steakhouse that gets it right. You start your meal with a giant soup and salad bar with great bread. The steaks have good flavor and taste and are priced well. All meals come with salad and a side. The broccoli and cheese sauce is great. The apple and blueberry cobbler are probably one of the best cobblers I ever had. You also get to throw peanut shells on the floor. It's worth the drive.

This place is a real trick!!! I have a vacation home near this place and when it 1st opened i was so happy to see a sit down steak house out in desert hills, and how this place looks you would think DAMN!!! I founds a good spot! WRONG. i have given this place 4 chances and all times the food sucks!! The salad bar is ok and the bar is ok but the main meal??? Wow i mean its really bad!! If you want a much better place for same price try Montana's Steak house you will walk out much much happier!

  • Corey H.

First off, trying to find this place may be a little difficult. It's kind of in the boonies, but thanks to GPS and things like that now, it's a whole lot easier to find. If you don't mind going a little out of your way and off the main streets, you won't be disappointed if you go to the Golden Horseshoe. I've eaten here several times over the years and it's always a blast. The food is great, especially the pot pies (they are huge!) Service is awesome and the atmosphere is fun. If you're looking for a spotless eatery, you're mistaken. From the time you walk in, you're stepping on Peanut shells. As a pre-dinner snack, you are free to enjoy peanuts and throw the shells on the floor, it's tons of fun for kids.

Very cool Western Restaurant/Bar with Great Steaks, Salad Bar & Deserts. A must eat at when in Lake Havasu.

Great steaks and salad & soup bar. Service was excellent! Friendly staff. We had a party of 10. We were the last ones to leave and they never hinted at us to exit. Great off the beaten path restaurant. Western themed and family atmosphere.

OK, so here we go. First of all people, you're in the middle of the desert - so if you order fish here, you're insane. I always get one cut of steak or another when I come here and it is above-average (about 5 visits to this place.) I've heard that the fish is horrible, but duh! Anyway, they have a very good cold salad bar and their appetizers are very tasty. The appetizers aren't fancy, more along the lines of pub grub. The portions are very generous and the sides are above-average. Quality to price here is very very good. Believe it or not I had the chicken fried steak here once and that was the worst of the meals. I don't know if they use the junkier cuts for the fried steaks, but the quality of the meat wasn't as good. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad meal, just not as good as the others. Now, don't go here thinking you're getting Flemings or Mortons, because you're not - you're in the middle of the desert - but given the other choices in town, go here. I almost forgot, you have to go through a horrid part of town to get here - so if you want the local experience, this is it.

I almost hurled when I watched my little brother devour a 32 ounce porterhouse. But let me tell you, it looked damn good. Now I don't think this is a USDA prime sort of place. It's more of a country roadhouse, peanut shells on the ground, rag-tag country band performing in the corner behind a chain-link fence sort-of-place. And I like it. We go here every time we go to Lake Havasu. I can't believe no one has reviewed this place yet. It's a little out of the way and north of town, but worth the drive. The beef here is OK. I usually opt for the petite sirloin (which was overcooked) and grilled shrimp on rice pilaf, but my absolute favorite about this place is the salad bar. The Golden Horseshoe doesn't mess around when it comes to the salad bar. Heavy on the green salad, with all kinds of soups (excellent chili and hearty clam chowder here), side salads (such as macaroni, fruit and potato, peas/cheese). All pretty average sounding, but all done very well at that. My sister felt her shrimp fettucine alfredo was kind of bland, and the server here was slow in responding to some requests - the high-chair took about 10 min. before it finally came out.

It's been another year and we are back here. We have gone 2 times in the last week, and I have to say it has been excellent! This is one of my favorite places in Havasu. The sirloin steak is very tender almost like a filet.

Great ambience, good food equals a good experience in my book. Try the pastrami burger for lunch if your want something different.

I just finished the worst meal ever at this place. I have been here quite a few times and the service is usually a little slow, but with peanuts, the salad bar and some bread, you could be patient enough for the good food that followed. However, tonight was the pits, no bread, empty drink glasses, an hour from ordering to getting a medium rare steak that ended up medium to medium well and was dry and tough. Just the pits. Our waiter, once we saw him again, apologized and said the manager said he could give us a free dessert or a discount. We took the $5 discount and left. I would think a manager that was worth his wage would have come over to the table himself and spoken with us. But, I just assume the manager was as poor as the service. It will be quite some time before I go back here again. For any if you brave enough to go, please let us all know if it gets any better.

Upon first glance, the immediate aroma of crushed peanut shells and steak entering your nostrils seem inviting. As you crunch your way to your seat, the lighting suggests a sports grill yet romantic dining area until you actually see what's on the menu. Go for the salad bar. You will be full and least likely to feel repercussions from the undercooked chicken served on top of the fettuccine alfredo.

Love everything on their menu. Their steaks and ribs are my favs. Their salad bar is great, fresh and always stocked. Love music and the atmosphere makes this one of my fav spots. Great for families and big parties.

My family and I really like this place. The decor is fun and unique. They give you peanuts and you can throw the shells on the ground. Its fun for the kids. I like the salad bar. Its nothing incredible, but its nice. The ingredients are fresh and plentiful. There are usually three soups that you can pick from. They are all pretty good. Nothing amazing, but good. I usually get a filet. Ive never been disappointed. I would give it 4 stars except we have had trouble getting good service on a number of occasions. Its a total coin toss if you are going to get good service, or ignored. Because of that, Ill never go there if I'm in a bit of a hurry or if I think its going to be crowded. Oh, they have live music on the weekends and its incredible!

This is one of my favorite places to eat! Great salad and Soup bar... have always had great service except for one time that happened to be extremely crowed! Always make it a point to go here at least once a month!!

This is a fun steak house with a hoky-tonk kind of vibe. Live music (and dancing if you're over 50) on most nights. I always get a kick out of places you can eat peanuts and throw the discarded shells on the ground. Seems like the service was friendly for other tables. Out server wasn't bad but she wasn't particularly friendly either. Kind of disinterested. My girlfriend asked for a recommendation on a menu item and she shrugged her shoulders and gave a non-answer. Not the most helpful. Salad and soup bar was great. Lots of choice and very fresh. My steak was on the dry side and the twice baked potato was good but not great. This is a fun place and I'd come again to sit at the bar and get the salad bar and apps. Don't think I would return to order an entrée though.

Hi, The Golden Horseshoe is a Lake Havasu institution. I have been eating here since the early 80's when you would walk in to find really old business card stapled to the wall and sawdust and peanut shells all over the floors. Since that time they closed for quite a while. A fire if I remember properly. But they reopened many years ago to the restuarant we all now know and love. The prices have slowly risen over the years, but, they are still famous for the peanuts and the size of the portions. Try the chicken fried steak, the portion covers the plate! A nice, but small, salad bar comes with dinner. The ingrediants are fresh and the soup is excellent. Dinners run the gamut but they specialize in beef so you are always better off with a choice in this area. The cobblers are to die for. Definitely a do not miss if you can find the room. Ask you server to show you, I bet you can't say no. There is a large full bar with entertainment on the weekends. A large parking lot is attached. But, it has never been paved to my knowledge so keep that in mind if you have a nice car...... You will find The Golden Horseshoe on the far North end of town on London Bridge Rd... Try it you'll like it! :-)

Ok, as I said I was checking service and it was mediocre since the hostess never cracked a smile ! The server was ok. Food is just ok. Then the kids! A large party of adults and 3 kids were near our table. When the kids were finished with there food, they were allowed to run around and yell! When I asked the server and then a manager to ask that they stop, he said he would talk to the kids, not the parents. The kids continued! So, in our minds, they don't care about our dining experience! See Ya! NOT!'

Have been going to this restaurant for years. They used to have good food and service and now the place sucks. The food the last few times has been awful along with the service.

If you love steak, stop here! I've had one of the best filet mignons ever and bf loved the porterhouse steak he indulged in. When you order their meals, you also get to hit up their salad and soup bar which is awesome too. Fresh greens, yummy dressing and they do a good clam chowder too. You can make yourself a salad or have as much soup and beans as you want. The evening we went in was around 6ish. It was still light out. They had a live band playing songs from various bands (mostly country). When you sit at the table, they have a bowl of peanuts and it's customary to throw out the peanut shells onto the floor of the restaurant. The service was very good as well and she was quick to refill our drinks. It's a western themed place and they got lots of knick knacks that are cool to look at inside and out. This place is an absolute must if you eat steak and if we should ever be in Lake Havasu City, we'll be back!

Over the years I've been here a few times and found it to be OK at best. The last time I was here 2 things were really the draw for me...the salad bar and peanuts in the shells which you throw on the floor. Unfortunately the peanuts were blah for some reason and the salad bar was just OK. Best salad bar in town though....because it's pretty much the only salad bar in town right now. I also ordered the 1/2 BBQ Chicken and it was also pretty tasteless. This whole experience made me feel like I was on some NO salt diet or something. It's weird....this place is packed usually for dinner on the weekends. I will pass it on my way to Walmart after eating a meal at Stearns (the best) that cost less then 1/2 of what it would at Golden Horseshoe. I see the parking lot here and I can't believe how packed it is. Whatever. If you need a regular restaurant with a salad bar and a menu that has a little something for everyone...this is your place. Lower your expectations a bit and you won't be disappointed.

Three of us went. We all got different meals & they were all great. I had 6 oz filet w/ sweet potato. Hubs had porterhouse w/ twice baked. Son had prime rib w/ mashed. All were great. I'd skip the Cosmo next time. Not great. But everything else was yummy!
